You’ve decided – this is it, I’m starting to work out. AWESOME! But with what equipment? Here are the top 7 MUST HAVE at-home workout equipment for women you need to set yourself up for success. I should know, I lost 50lbs over the last few years using the equipment listed below!
(Sidenote – Canadian company Organika products also really helped me during my journey – from their bone broth to their collagen & electrolytes. Highly recommend you give them a try, and I’m giving you 25% off your purchase with my code GBEVSSS!)
1. A Thick Workout Mat
The SPRI Exercise Mat is my all-time favorite workout mat. It is non-slip, made of thick poly-foam, and most importantly, it’s thick enough not to bruise your elbows when you’re doing a plank. Don’t make the same mistake as me and start off with a thin yoga mat, you will injure yourself.
2. A Set of Light Hand Weights
If you want to get some toning and strength into your workouts, I highly recommend a set of light hand weights. These have countless uses. Your best bet is to get the set of 2lb/3lb/5lb weights so you can change the weight based on the exercise and have versatility as you build strength, but if you don’t want to commit to three sets of weights to start, I recommend a set of 2lb weights or a set of 3lb weights.
3. A Set of Resistance Bands
It may look like a measly piece of equipment, but trust me that when you put one around your ankles or thighs, you will feel. the. burn. I personally like the set of 5 made of rubber material, which comes in different thicknesses (aka different levels of resistance from Light to Extra Extra Heavy), but another popular and just as effective type is the set of 3 coated with cotton which is more non-slip.
4. Core Sliders/Gliders
I highly recommend core sliders (which I call gliders). They are not expensive to purchase and come in a set of two. They are used under your feet and the number of exercises you can do with these that can help you feel your core (and want to rip your legs off!) are countless. Simple, but effective.
5. Ankle/Wrist Weights
Ankle/wrist weights have been gaining in popularity. They are SUPER practical because they are weights with velcro that can be tied around your ankle or wrist. They come in a set of 2 and are normally 1lb each. The originals are Bala Bangles which I highly recommend. Another alternative is the HARI LIVING brand. I wouldn’t cheap out on these. I have purchased multiple versions and brands and you definitely want the good stuff here. These are great to use to strengthen your arms, glutes, and thighs, and can even be put around your ankles when you go for a walk for an extra push!
6. Kettlebell
If you’re looking to engage in more strength training, you should invest in a kettlebell. Kettlebells are super practical and come in a variety of weights. I recommend starting off with a 12-pound weight, 15-pound weight, or 20-pound weight.
7. Water Bottle

I have most of these at home. Maybe a skipping rope is another good one.
Oh yes, that is a very good one! I should purchase one myself actually! I’ve heard it’s a GREAT workout tool!
