“Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, how you leave others feeling after having an experience with you is your trademark.” – Jay Danzie

It is inevitable. In this world, we are constantly marketing ourselves and it is crucial for us to leave a good lasting impression with everyone we meet. The world is very, very small and everybody knows everybody.

There are many ways in which it is possible to leave a good impression, but there is nothing better than when it is face to face. Let’s break down this quote…

Smile = logo. What do we remember companies by? Oftentimes, it is their logo. What is the first thing we see when we look at a company? Their logo. Same thing with a person. What is the first thing we normally see and what is it that we normally remember? A person’s smile, so make sure it’s there, and that it’s a real, authentic one, cause we can definitely tell when someone is fake smiling, just saying.

Personality = business card. What is the purpose of a business card? It normally tells us about a person; their title, their contact information etc. By showing someone our personality, we are showing them who we are, not title wise, but rather how we act as individuals, something that personally, I think is so much better than knowing someone’s title. I would rather speak to a kind, bubbly assistant than a standoffish executive.

How you leave others feeling = trademark. A trademark is something we are known for. This one is probably the most important. You want to leave a good lasting impression. As I said before, the world is very small, and therefore there are high chances that you will one day cross paths again with your old boss, or that someone you know will know someone you are trying to get in touch with. Word of mouth is the most powerful tool when it comes to marketing. That being said, you want to make sure that people remember you in a positive way, and are therefore speaking of you in a positive manner to others.
